Bonnechere Valley Upgrades Water Service to Support Growth

The Township of Bonnechere Valley is planning for the future by investing $120,000 from the CCBF to fund the first phase of a major infrastructure project in the Village of Eganville.

In recent years, the charm and quiet lifestyle of rural villages like Eganville have attracted people from larger city centres to relocate the region. With more than 140 new homes currently in different stages of development, and a growing population of more than 1,100 people, Eganville’s infrastructure needs to be upgraded to match this growth.

Bonnechere Valley is taking a proactive approach to expand capacity for residential growth with a multi-phase project that will see the water, wastewater and stormwater systems upgraded. The CCBF is funding phase one, which includes detailed design work and engineered drawings for the project.

The second phase of the project includes installation of new watermains, storm and sanitary lines, and road drainage along one km of John Street, Highway 41, and Queen Street. In some areas, crews will replace underground infrastructure that is nearly 50 years old. This will add capacity to the system and improve overall service for current residents.

Access to permanent, stable funding sources like the Canada Community-Building Fund enables municipalities like Bonnechere Valley to proactively invest in infrastructure projects that support the growth and vitality of communities, and help municipalities become shovel-ready for housing developments.
