CCBF Celebrated at Annual AMO Conference

Today in Ottawa the CCBF was showcased on the AMO conference main stage in front of a record audience.

The celebratory event recognized the recent 10-year agreement renewal in Ontario, several brief videos of unique projects from the last year, and the benefits that the fund brings to communities, residents, and communities across Ontario.

Innovative approaches were taken by municipalities in the projects displayed, achieving outcomes including boosting productivity and economic growth, promoting a cleaner environment, building capacity for planning and asset management, addressing long-term local needs, as well as other wide-ranging community benefits that meet the diverse needs of residents and businesses.

One project recognized was Peel Region’s upgrade of heating and cooling systems in 10 of its Peel Living residential apartment buildings, replacing outdated equipment and improving every unit in all 10 buildings.

Another was Peterborough’s investment into a large new recreation facility that will feature two ice pads, and aquatic centre, a library branch, and more, all built with accessibility top of mind.

Bonnechere Valley’s video showed how funding was used to conduct the first phase of a major water and wastewater infrastructure project that will add capacity for 70 new homes.

Lastly, a project in Bancroft was highlighted where funding supported a variety of infrastructure work in the downtown core to accommodate commercial and residential growth.

Overall, the presentation noted that the stable nature of the CCBF provides municipal governments stability that enables these types of high-priority projects through long-term planning.

The entire event continues to build a strong audience for the CCBF, with traffic to buildingcommunities.ca steadily increasing each year. The site is a helpful resource that keeps engagement with the CCBF active year-round.
