Clarington Completes 2023 Rural Road Upgrades

With a $2 million investment from the CCBF, the Municipality of Clarington upgraded 47 lane km of roads in 2023. 

Clarington’s annual roads program for 2023 included capital improvements to 35 rural roads. The work was completed in two phases. The first phase included repaving and improvements to stormwater drainage on 20 lane km of roads, and the second involved applying slurry sealant to another 27 lane km of roadways. The sealant is a mixture of crushed rock, asphalt and water that is applied during the summer to cure in the heat. 

In 2023, the CCBF funded roads projects that improved more than 3,700 lane km of road.
