New Breakwall Reduces Flood Risk in Township of James

The Montreal River shoreline in the Township of James has a new retaining wall.

Built in the 1960s, the old breakwall was deteriorating, increasing the risk of flooding and damage to local homes and businesses. In 2019, the Township invested Canada Community-Building funds in a modern, permanent breakwall.

The new breakwall helps lower flood risk while providing a safe walking route where residents and visitors can enjoy the beautiful local scenery.
