Oakville Upgrades Royal Windsor Drive Bridge, Improving Lifespan and Durability

The Town of Oakville is upgrading the Royal Windsor Drive bridge, paid for in part by the Canada Community-Building Fund.

Built in 1954, the bridge crosses the Metrolinx Lakeshore west rail corridor and connects to the Queen Elizabeth Highway, making it a popular route for commuters. Oakville prioritized upgrading the infrastructure as part of its 2024 capital budget.

Construction began in February. Crews are installing new guard rails and rehabilitating the concrete and steel supports, to improve overall durability and extend the bridge’s lifespan by 10-15 years.

With this project, the Town is investing in itself. Many major companies base their headquarters in Oakville, and reliable infrastructure will help those companies, and by extension the Town, flourish.
