Peterborough Nears Completion of Major Road Upgrades with $8M Fund Boost

The City of Peterborough has nearly completed a multi-year road pavement preservation project, made possible by an $8 million investment from the Canada Community-Building Fund. The project began in 2020 and is expected to finish this November.

The City identified nine roads, both major commercial streets and smaller residential roads, that were in need of rehabilitation.  All roads received extensive upgrades. This includes adjusting storm sewers and replacing deteriorated curbs. Crews also helped extend the road’s lifespan by spraying an asphalt tack coat to bind the asphalt layers. Some roads’ surface condition was so poor that Public Works had to resurface them entirely, significantly improving safety and driving conditions.
