All Wheels Park Gives Strathroy-Caradoc An Outdoor Recreation Option

Residents are enjoying the new all-wheels park in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, funded in part by the Canada Community-Building Fund. The park offers rollerbladers, cyclists, skateboarders and a community space for outdoor recreation.

Post-pandemic, residents were eager to venture outdoors and get active. Although Strathroy-Caradoc already had a skatepark, it was in poor shape, with cracks in the concrete, and it was far too small to meet demand. Council approved the construction of a new all-wheels park in 2022 and the park opened in 2023.

Careful consideration was given to ensuring the park was compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Designers adjusted the ramps to be better suited for scooters, rollerblades, and wheelchairs. They also split the park into beginner, intermediate, and advanced sections.

The all-wheels park has become a community space where people with different levels of skills and abilities are welcomed, and where older, more experienced skaters and cyclists coach and mentor those who are new to the sport.
