AMO's 2020 Annual Report on the CCBF
Each year, municipalities invest Canada Community-Building Funds into priority infrastructure projects in Ontario. Municipal staff report local CCBF investments to AMO on a regular basis and once a year, new project information is compiled into an annual report. This report summarizes municipal investments, changes to the Fund and the impacts on communities across the province.
In 2020, Ontario’s municipal governments, excluding the City of Toronto, invested nearly $796 million from the Fund into critical infrastructure projects throughout the province. Municipalities used these funds to complete a variety of infrastructure projects that are important to their community.
- Grimsby constructed a revetment using armor stone along sections of their shoreline to minimize land erosion and provide a sense of safety for residents along the waterfront.
- Baldwin built a new Community Peace Garden, providing residents a place to gather and play outside.
- Kitchener undertook a large-scale infrastructure project with the full rehabilitation of a portion of Queen Street, resurfacing the roadway, widening the sidewalks to allow for café tables and outdoor retail, adding additional bike racks and upgrading to LED street lighting.
These are only a few of the projects detailed in the report – in 2020, the CCBF supported over 1,500 projects! To find out more about these projects and the impact the Fund is having in your community, read our latest annual report.
