Category Spotlight: Fire Stations

This is the newest category added to the Canada Community-Building Fund, added in 2021. As such, there currently aren’t any examples of investments, but there are expected to be projects happening in 2022.

The newest addition to the CCBF’s 18 project categories, the Fire Halls category supports the construction of a new fire station, as well as the renovation and expansion of existing fire halls in communities across Ontario.

While the fund supports infrastructure in the form of fire stations, this category can’t be used to fund the purchase of new fire trucks, unless the acquisition is part of a broader project involving the construction, renovation, or expansion of a fire station. Similarly, fire equipment (helmets, uniforms, etc.) cannot be funded through the CCBF.
