Georgina Serves Up New Pickleball Courts

A $120,000 investment from the Canada Community-Building Fund helped the Town of Georgina expand outdoor sport options for residents.

Earlier in 2024, the Town invested CCBF funding into the construction of four new pickleball courts and resurfaced three existing tennis courts.

Recreational pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada, and municipalities are jumping on board to offer indoor and outdoor spaces for residents to play.

Pickleball is a mixture of tennis, badminton and ping pong, and is a low-impact sport that’s perfect for all skill levels. In communities like Georgina, pickleball is helping residents stay active and offers an opportunity for socialization.

Since the newest courts opened, the Town reports around 50 residents use them every day during the outdoor pickleball season.
