Lagoon Restoration in the Township of Chapple

The Township of Chapple has completed restoration of its municipal lagoon system thanks to investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

In 2021, the Township, located in Northwestern Ontario, invested more than $10,000 from the fund into improving the overall functionality of the lagoon.

Through its annual Ministry of the Environment inspection, Chapple was informed the vegetation inside the lagoon was overgrown. Limiting the growth of vegetation is vital to the operation of the lagoon, and necessary in order to properly inspect the berm.

In order to allow good airflow and better circulation, the Township of Chapple worked to remove cattails and cut down vegetation, improving water circulation and treatment.
