Motorists Enjoy Smooth Ride on Rehabilitated Road in Township of Perry
The Township of Perry invested its Canada Community-Building Fund into rehabilitation of a heavily-traveled roadway in the region.
Scotia Road is used as an alternate detour route between Highway 11 and the secondary Highway 592 and gets significant heavy traffic during Hwy 11 closures. As well, this road is used by residents and visitors to access the mid portion of the Township from Hwy 11.
Rehabilitation of the road involved the removal of the existing surface, the application of granite, and paving with HL4 asphalt.
The project included replacement of the existing guide rail with a new, steel beam guide rail. Surface treatment patching was conducted in 2013 however the current surface condition was beyond further repair and patching.
The new asphalt provides a smooth surface making for a safer ride along with the new guide rail and provides increased safety for the travelling public.
