New Sarnia Fire Station Nears Completion

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services will soon have a new, state-of-the-art facility to help provide improved fire and rescue services to the City.

Sarnia invested $6.4 million from the Canada Community-Building Fund into the construction of Fire Station No. 3 on Colborne Road. The new 8,500 square-foot station is slated for completion later this year, and replaces the former station located at the same site.

Aside from providing Sarnia’s fire department with a great new space to work, the building itself will be more energy efficient, with in-floor heating, high-efficiency heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems, and energy-efficient lighting. It also accommodates firefighters with individual gender-neutral fire quarters, and features bunker gear cleaning and drying zones.

The new station will ensure Sarnia’s firefighters have the most modern facility to continue the critical community work they do, protecting the health and safety of the City’s 72,000 residents.
