Perth East Reconstructs Roadway to Mitigate Recurring Water Issues
Rehabilitation of a local roadway in Perth East has saved a number of local businesses and residential homes from recurrent flooding.
The Township of Perth East reconstructed the road and surrounding infrastructure on Whaley Avenue with the help of $405,000 in CCBF funding.
The Municipality dealt with watermain breaks in the past due to deterioration of the roadway and underground infrastructure. This caused water damage to a nearby industrial warehouse, local storefronts, and residential homes.
Perth East’s project included updating the storm and sanitary sewers along with the water and wastewater mains, resurfacing the road and replacing the sidewalk system.
With completion of this project, residents and businesses alike can now enjoy peace of mind that the recurring issues are properly fixed. Additionally, this investment contributes to a reliable and safe supply of drinking water, improved flow and surface drainage, and the roadway has been entirely rehabilitated as an added benefit.
