Reconstruction of Community Pool in Welland is Huge Success
The City of Welland invested nearly $1.6 million of CCBF funds into completely reconstructing its 60-year-old community pool at Memorial Park.
Some added amenities include four 50m swim lanes, a deep end with a diving board and climbing wall, sloped beach entry, teaching steps, shade structures, lounge chairs, a fully accessible change house, and a new filtration system.
Built in the 1950s, the decades of operation and heavy use meant the facility and its associated mechanical and electrical systems were due for this revitalization.
The upgrades ensure that proper delivery of services can be provided to the public for many summers to come.
After re-opening day on July 7 last year, approximately 15,000 visitors enjoyed the updated pool and amenities throughout the summer swim season.
