Simcoe County Building Roundabout in Essa

Simcoe County is investing the CCBF into constructing a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of County Roads 21 and 56 in the Township of Essa.

The roundabout will replace the existing two-way stop sign control on County Road 56. There will also be upgrades to storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter and installation of street lighting.  

These improvements will enhance public safety through grade changes to improve sight lines at the intersection. The roundabout reconstruction will also improve traffic flow in the area.  

Surface course paving will occur in the spring of 2024, but the roundabout will be fully open to traffic and functional over winter 2023.     

This project was identified as a priority in the County’s asset management plan, based on the current and projected daily traffic counts.
