Simcoe County Expanding Transit Fleet
The County of Simcoe is making critical investments in its public transit system using CCBF funding.
In 2024 and 2025, Simcoe is investing just over $2 million from the Fund to add five new buses to its LINX transit fleet, and refurbish four existing buses.
Refurbishment includes a full rebuild or replacement of major components to return those buses to like-new condition, and is recommended based on odometer readings, maintenance costs and overall condition.
The five new buses are part of a phased rollout of new routes and service enhancements in South Simcoe. One of those buses is a specialty bus, purchased and operated to provide additional accessibility services to residents on a new route.
Simcoe County LINX is a conventional public transit system that begun its operations in 2018. The LINX transit links major urban hubs and local transit services in the County of Simcoe and provides residents and visitors with a reliable and courteous transit system in clean, safe and accessible vehicles.
These investments from the CCBF will allow Simcoe County to expand public transit options and routes to better serve the needs of its residents in both urban and rural areas.
