Trent Lakes Replaces Outdated Water Service for Residents

The CCBF assisted the Municipality of Trent Lakes with replacing aged and ineffective water infrastructure to help increase quality of service in a residential neighbourhood.  

Residents living in two homes on Sumcot Street in the community of Buckhorn Lakes Estate were struggling with a lack of water pressure. After an investigation, the Township determined that the existing water service, in particular the piping from the main waterline to the lot, needed to be replaced. The plumbing was well over 20 years old and featured an outdated design. The outdated service split water between the homes, meaning that when one home used water, the other would be left with little to no water pressure. 

The investigation also found that many of the homes in Buckhorn Lakes Estate were serviced in the same way – with one pipe split to service two homes. Public works employees found this when they excavated a section of the road to expose the watermain. The team replaced the water services to the two affected houses, providing each home with its own line directly to the water main.

Since replacing the water system of the two homes facing the issue, water pressure in those homes has increased dramatically. This is an excellent indicator for any future replacements down the line.
