United Counties of Prescott and Russell Rehabilitate Bridge

A local bridge in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell is safer and will withstand the elements for another 25 years, thanks to a $4.7 million investment from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

During an inspection, Public Works saw that the guide rails and parapet walls, the concrete barriers on each side of the bridge, were deteriorating. Additionally,  the bridge's waterproofing was failing, impacting the underside of the bridge.

The United Counties replaced the guide rails and parapet walls and re-paved the road. They also lifted the bridge by a few millimeters, allowing crews to remove and replace the concrete support pillars. Finally, they waterproofed the entire bridge.
