Visitor and Resident Public Parking Improved in North Frontenac
Fishing, hiking, camping, cottage use, and other lakefront activities have all become more popular in the Township of North Frontenac over recent years.
About two hours west of Ottawa, and filled with more than 150 lakes, the township prides itself on year-round outdoor activities, hosting a road known as the “Four Seasons Scenic Route.”
Demand for parking at beaches and boat launches has increased significantly through the winter months in recent years, leading to residents parking in an unsafe and obstructive manner in lots and on nearby roadsides.
Using $40,000 in CCBF funding, the township was able to create new parking areas at five locations along with signage to ensure awareness of by-laws. This project keeps the areas functional year-round for various activities, provides safer parking, and also improves the efficiency of snow and ice removal.
Thanks to this project, residents, visitors, and businesses are now enjoying increased capacity for outdoor activities through all four seasons.
