Eligible Projects
Projects eligible for Canada Community-Building funding under this category are those that result in the construction, material enhancement or renewal of infrastructure that supports a shared passenger transport system that is available for public use.
Examples
Eligible projects under this category include (but are not limited to):
- Transit infrastructure and rolling stock such as bus rapid transit (BRT), light rail transit (LRT), subways, buses, urban passenger ferries and regional commuter rail;
- Transit facilities and supporting infrastructure that include transit queue-jump lanes, reserved bus lanes, turning lanes or other related enhancements in support of public transit, streetcar/trolley infrastructure, storage and maintenance facilities, security enhancements, bus shelters and transit passenger terminals;
- Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in support of public transit services that is compliant with the ITS Architecture for Canada; and
- Software systems (purchase or upgrade only) to support public transit systems (e.g. traffic management, passenger itineraries, pass purchases).
